Cakes for Keeps

Though I have worked as a ceramic artist for over fifteen years, a surprising creative portal opened up for me when I took on a stint as a cake decorator. Feeling my way into the delicate craft of gilding a cake with buttercream blooms took me a couple of years, but once I got there, I was hooked. 

There is a certain way that peoples’ eyes light up when they see a cake studded with flowers, and I wanted to find a way to capture that joy and make it last forever. Layer upon layer, I experimented until I could coax porcelain “frosting” from a pastry bag, fusing techniques from both arts so that now you can have your cake and keep it too!
